Q: What are the requirements for the Coos & Coquille Area Agricultural Water Quality Management Plan?

A: That landowners minimize pollution to waterways and allow the establishment of riparian vegetation. 1) Soil erosion associated with agricultural cultivation shall not deliver sediment sufficient to violate water quality standards. 2)Application and storage of manage and fertilizer will be done in a manner that minimizes the introduction of nutrients into the waterway. 3) Management activities in the riparian area will be conducted in a manner that allows for the protection of the vegetation. 4) Irrigation systems will be managed to minimize runoff and the introduction of nutrients and farm chemicals into waterways.

A: The Coos & Coquille Area Agricultural Water Quality Management (AgWQM) Plan describes the local watersheds, discusses agricultural activities that effect water quality, and suggests ways in which landowners can minimize water pollution while improving land conditions. Also know as the Senate Bill 1010 Water Quality Plan.
