Restoring Fish Passage and Tidal Wetlands in the Coos Estuary

The Noble Creek Tidelands Restoration Project is a multi-phase habitat restoration effort led by the Coos Soil and Water Conservation District in partnership with local landowners, Coos County, and natural resource agencies and partners in the Coos Basin. The project has been designed to address the aging and failing road and tide gate infrastructure that currently serves as the only access route into the Greenacres community;  restore natural tidal processes, improve fish passage into Noble Creek and its adjacent wetland habitats, enhance water quality, and increase the overall resilience of this rural coastal community to climate change.

The project is being developed through a phased engineering approach to ensure restoration is technically sound, environmentally responsible, and supported by the surrounding community.

Current Phase

The District is currently advancing engineering design and permitting for the preferred restoration alternative from the 60-90% level. Technical work completed to date includes:
